5 Entrepreneur Podcasts We Love

Written by Stephen Rogan | 05-Aug-2015 06:00:00

Every aspiring and enterprising entrepreneur will need a little bit of extra encouragement from time to time. This can come in the form of revealing biographies or business advice books by those who have made it.

However, another great way of receiving invaluable information from an entrepreneur’s perspective is by listening to and watching podcasts. These can be consumed casually by senior members of staff in a similar position or used as inspiration and motivation by would-be executives.  We recently wrote about our Top Marketing Podcasts that everyone should listen to, this time around we are going broader and discussing entrepreneurship.

But which podcasts should you open your ears and eyes to? Well, here are 5 entrepreneur podcasts we love.

  1. Foundation

Hosted by Google Ventures partner and Digg founder Kevin Rose, this educational video podcast profiles a number of well-known entrepreneurs and finds out about their unique lives, from childhood and early inspirations to how they achieved success in their respective fields.

Previous interviewees have included Jack Dorsey (Twitter/Square), Elon Musk (SpaceX/Tesla), and Chad Hurley (YouTube). Seeing as Rose is usually friends with these people, the conversations are laid-back and easy to follow as well.

  2. Entrepreneur on Fire

These daily podcasts are hosted by John Lee Dumas, who interviews a wide range of heartening individuals and inspiring entrepreneurs. In less than two years, Dumas managed to speak to over 650 leaders including Barbara Corcoran and Seth Godin.

The format starts with a question about the guest’s biggest failure and the lessons learnt, before moving on to their “aha” moment, how they made it a success and some final quick-fire questions for added enlightenment.

  3. The Tim Ferris Show

As well as being a best-selling author, Tim Ferris is also an investor, entrepreneur and podcast presenter. In his very own show, Ferris talks to all manner of people to discover when, where and how they managed to find success.

From doctors and scientists to authors and politicians, Ferris manages to interview guests in a thoroughly enthralling way, which every entrepreneur can benefit from.

  4. This Week In Startups

Hosted by yet another successful figure, This Week In Startups looks at current start-up trends and also finds out how notable companies gained glory in the very capable presenting hands of Jason Calacanis (AOL, Launch Conference, Angel).

Predominantly concerned with tech companies, this podcast usually lasts from 45 minutes to an hour, but you wouldn’t know it as Calacanis’ upbeat and exciting style makes time fly by.

  5. Mixergy

Perfect for go-getting individuals and striving start-ups, Mixergy was created to inspire and educate by recalling stories of success. Most of the content is paid for at $25 (around £16) a month, but this could well be a sound future investment.

Host Andrew Warner is a prosperous entrepreneur himself but invites other founding fathers to discuss their own business-based thoughts and opinions. In the past, these have been from companies including Wikipedia, Pixar, LinkedIn and Groupon.

Hopefully after listening to or watching these podcasts, you will benefit from greater insight into entrepreneurship and learn how prosperity can be achieved.
