6 Top Marketing Podcasts to Add to Your Playlist

20-Jul-2015 08:30:00 / by Stephen Rogan

Even though you can increase your understanding and knowledge of marketing through popular websites and blogs, a lot can be said for listening to great podcasts instead.

These can be played in the background while you work, which will benefit the workforce and create a discussion among colleagues. Alternatively, these top marketing podcasts can be downloaded and listened to on the daily commute or your lunch break.

Either way, podcasts are a great form of content, which your business may even decide to create for customers to consume in the future as well. But as far as marketing is concerned, what are the best podcasts to listen to now?

  1. Six Pixels of Separation

Covering the entire spectrum of digital marketing is no mean feat, but Mitch Joel, the president of Twist Image, does just that with Six Pixels of Separation. With over 450 episodes already recorded, which usually last over an hour, there is no shortage of content to enjoy.

As well as being an industry expert, Joel also interviews prominent figures and thought leaders in digital marketing to provide even greater insight into how businesses can keep up with ever-changing trends.

  2. Marketing Over Coffee

If you want to gain a competitive edge over rivals or get inspirational ideas on how to advance your marketing activity, this is the podcast for you. Concise yet comprehensive, Marketing Over Coffee is around 20 minutes long but manages to cover lots of the industry’s latest news.

Hosts John Wall and Christopher Penn are clearly proficient professionals, but the fact this podcast is recorded in a coffee shop just outside of Boston feels like they are old friends too.

  3. The Foolish Adventure Show

This particular podcast is great for Internet business owners, as it offers up superb advice on how to market your goods and services online. The Foolish Adventure Show is all about practical suggestions, rather than simply discussing current trending subjects.

Host Tim Conley is often joined by guests with both experience and expertise on what it takes to succeed, so don’t be put off by the podcast’s tongue-in-cheek name, as it is anything but foolish.

  4. Social Pros Podcast

For a light-hearted and lively look at social media, download the Social Pros podcast. Presenter Jay Baer of Convince and Convert is joined by a team of experts that discuss trends, future predictions and best practices.

Rather than speaking to companies specifically concerned with social media, marketing guru Baer is more interested in finding out how everyday businesses manage their accounts and interact with customers on the world’s most popular networks.

  5. The Content Warfare Podcast

The best thing about the Content Warfare Podcast is that host Ryan Hanley has been there and done it. Having learnt the craft of creating content from marketing his own insurance company, Hanley now dishes out practical information on how to promote and publicise effectively.

He also interviews fellow content creators and asks them about topics including audience-building, lead generation, and boosting traffic.

  6. The Growth Show

This is the HubSpot in house Podcast presented by their CMO, Mike Volpe.  The Growth Show is a relative newcomer but a heavyweight when it comes to insight and caliber of guests.  Seth Godin, Guy Kawasaki, Tomasz Tunguz and David Skok of HubSpot investors Matrix Partners make the list of already recorded shows with a host of other top names in upcoming episodes.

Expect to get the inside track on exponential company growth, the VC view and hugely valuable insight into scaling businesses through cutting edge marketing.

With a seemingly endless supply of podcasts available, it is difficult to know which ones to download and listen to. But these suggestions manage to cover general topics as well as the latest news and niche topics too.

Enjoy!
